JOHN SQUIRE's spokespeople were being tight-lipped last week about his new Skunk Works project.
The former Stone Roses and Seahorses guitarist placed an ad in last week's Melody Maker, inviting applications for the singer's job in the project.
Applicants replying to a PO box in Manchester were told they could be of "any age, sex, race, religion" and were asked to send a demo tape and photograph.
A spokeswoman said she knew nothing about the new project, other than the fact that Squire was writing.
Meanwhile, the lastest round of Stone-Roses-to-reform rumours insist that the money on offer for a two-gig reunion has risen to £1.25million, and that all of the band bar drummer Reni are warming to the idea. There has been no confirmation of this from any official source.
