THE SEAHORSES
John Squire's DIY ethic!
THE SEAHORSES, the band formed by former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire, have announced that their
new album, which they are currently recording in Los Angeles, US, will be called 'Do It Yourself'.
Reports suggest the long-awaited debut, which is being produced by former Marc Bolan collaborator Tony
Visconti, is due for release on the Geffen label in May.
The band also played a live date at the Viper Room, Johnnie Depp's club, in Los Angeles on Thursday,
February 20.
Meanwhile, the band have changed their name back to The Seahorses from Seahorses.
Squire told NME last December that the band where originally going to be called The Seahorses.
However, when NME printed that the name was an anagram of He Hates Roses they changed it to Seahorses.
The choice of the name then caused a row with a little-known band called Sea Horses, who had been
recording under the name since 1987 and released four albums.
They demanded that Squire's band change their name.
However, the argument has now been resolved amicably after Squire's band added the word 'The'.
Both bands will now keep their respective variations of the same name.
A spokesman for The Seahorses said: "The argument was all a bit of a damp squib in the end, there
was nothing legal or anything. The anagram is unfortuate, but there you go."
