Hirst art auctioned for War Child

Paintings by Damien Hirst are among the artwork to be auctioned in aid of children's charity War Child.

Two works by the Turner Prize winner are up for sale at the Proud Gallery in London, with profits going to help children affected by global conflict.

Former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire and two members of indie band Maximo Park have also donated work.

Photographs of bands recording their tracks for War Child's benefit album in September are also being sold.

Coldplay, Radiohead and Gorillaz were among acts who recorded 22 exclusive tracks in two days for Help: A Day in the Life, which organisers said became the fastest-selling download album of all-time.

Squire's painting is the original artwork from the benefit album.

The recordings were organised 10 years after the original Help album, which saw the likes of Oasis, Blur and Suede record tracks in a single day.

Maximo Park's Paul Smith and Duncan Lloyd are selling their album sleeve illustrations for the charity.
