Ian Brown's US tour ended in violence after a member of the audience jumped onstage. Playing at the San Francisso Great American Music Hall, Ian was taken by surprise when a member of the crowd attempted to pull him to the ground. An eyewitness claimed: "It was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, but it was a near fiasco. A fan leapt onto the stage and tackled Ian to the ground. Security ran to pull him off and drag them both offstage. Apparently Ian didn't like being grabbed and motioned for the guard to let go of him. But he didn't and the next thing we knew they were squaring up. Ian's band and the rest of the security tried to break it up. Then it was a free-for-all. Everything happened so quickly and within a minute or so Ian and his band left the stage."
Despite the fracas, the band returned and the set continued. Ian was arrested at his hotel after the gig, but was later released without charge. Ian Brown returns to the UK later this month for a short tour.
