The Yards - New band for 2005

Chris Helme from The Seahorses returns with exciting new band The Yards.

Snapper are pleased to announce the signing of exciting new band The Yards.

The band's self-titled debut album will be available in spring 2005 on Industrial Erotica/ Snapper Music.

Fronted by former Seahorse's singer Chris Helme, alongside Stu Fletcher on bass, guitarist Chris Farrell, drummer John Miller and Jon Hargreaves on key boards, The Yards were formed in 2002.

They have spent the past two years touring and honing their distinctive sound. Live shows have drawn comparisons to artists as diverse as Buffalo Springfield, Velvet Underground, The Verve, The Stooges, Soft Machine and The Doors, and the influence of many of these bands amongst many others can be heard in their brand of 60s tinged, melodic rock which at times has psychedelic touches and at others is full of punky attitude.

The release comes on the back of busy 2004. In addition to playing the Uncut stage at the Guilford Festival, embarking on two headlining tours of the UK and releasing a highly sought after 6 track EP in Japan, the band also supported the legendary Love with Arthur Lee on an extensive UK tour.

The band will be back out on tour this spring to promote the release of the album, with Chris playing a solo acoustic gig at York Fibbers on January 28th. A single is also planned shortly.

'An inventive poetic rock band led by Chris Helme's distinctive voice, with crushing guitars.' The Fly

'You can't say that Helme never had a way with a way with a melody and a rousing chorus.' Record Collector
