KING MONKEY now college patron

IAN BROWN has become a patron of James Watt College in Greenock, following its opening of a new state-of-the-art recording studio. The former Stone Roses singer helped launch the facilty with a gig. He hopes to have a hands-on role at the college, holding workshops and recording material there.

Brown said: "It's a major honour. The guys have put a lot of work into this place, a lot of love."

Brown is looking at ways to add his personal touch by offering his skills and the help of his friends to students. He revealed: "I would send me boys up, me musicians, me engineers, programmers and we'll do workshops. If I find someone that's a great singer, I could bring them in and you know, we'll have all the lads and see where we can take this."
