The Stone Roses, The Best Of
Issue 21st September 2002
THE STONE ROSES have collaborated for the first time in six years - on a Greatest
Hits compilation. This autumn will see the release of a definitive collection
chosen by the original members - the first time Ian Brown, John Squire, Reni and
Mani have collaborated since Reni left the band in 1995. John Squire also hinted
recently that the band may reform.
The 15-track album, 'The Very Best Of The Stone Roses', will be released on November
4. Assembled by the four members, it will contain material from both Stone Roses
albums ('The Stone Roses' and 'Second Coming'), plus one-off tracks that featured
on neither - something that was previously impossible because of long-running
contractual wrangles. The original tapes were re-mastered at Abbey Road under the
eye of original producer John Leckie. New artwork by Squire will be used as the
cover. The tracklisting to 'The Very Best Of The Stone Roses', which will be
available on limited edition 180 gram super quality vinyl as well as limited
edition slip-case CDs featuring four art prints, runs:
01. I Wanna Be Adored
02. She Bangs The Drums
03. Ten Storey Love Song
04. Waterfall
05. Made Of Stone
06. Love Spreads
07. What The World Is Waiting For
08. Sally Cinnamon
09. Fools Gold
10. Begging You
11. Elephant Stone
12. Breaking Into Heaven
13. One Love
14. This Is The One
15. I Am The Resurrection
The artwork sadly is not 'new' artwork provided by John Squire but is the
untitled piece from the 1995 Tour Programme.
