Re: Mani selling a lot of equipment

Dissolving a company that was only formed in 2015 isn't a big deal... didn't they have another one?

Besides, it was a touring company. Maybe they are now in the process of setting up a new one, to handle new recordings as well... :?:

Re: Shane Meadows to Make Sequel To Made Of Stone

The reunion, in terms of being a finite thing, was fine. Good gigs, good press, and a couple of new tunes (opinion is subjective). If the band had said "we're reforming with a view to becoming a working band again; doing gigs, making albums, and going on tour" then it would be different. But they di...

Re: Mani selling a lot of equipment

Second Touring was only incorporated in November 2015 though, so what did they use for the earlier gigs?

Re: Ruined, Tarnished, Status Quo or Enhanced?

They're all equally bad, but the 'first take' of FoB on Youtube is 'OK' mainly because it lacks the terrible tub-thumping drums and Lynne's gloopy production. Had George Martin's ears totally gone in 1995? Bizarre they didn't use him if not. The only good thing that came out of it was that it kille...

Re: Ruined, Tarnished, Status Quo or Enhanced?

The most bizarre thing about 'Free as a Bird' is that none of the surviving Beatles was aware that the song had already been commercially issued -- in 1988 -- on the Imagine: John Lennon soundtrack. They learned this after they themselves recorded and released it (I personally prefer that rough dem...

Re: Ruined, Tarnished, Status Quo or Enhanced?

Ruined: to the mega-obsessive fans. Tarnished: to those fans who wanted great new music but never got any Status quo: literally everybody else in the world, even casual / day to day fans. I'm a fan since 1990 and I would say I fall into this category. Sure, I wanted an album but I'd have been happy ...

Re: When Blur Were Almost A Roses Clone Band

To me, Beetlebum sounds like a great Blur song, which it is, but it doesn't sound like a Beatles song. I get the whole thing about perhaps the mood being similar in the verses. If anything the closest comparison vocally would be "Long Long Long", a Harrison song.

I do like 'Beetlebum'. It sounds like something off 'The White Album'.
That's what everyone says. As an avid fan of the white album, I've often wondered what specifically Beetlebum sounds like from that album. Some of the vocals maybe?

Re: When Blur Were Almost A Roses Clone Band

I always liked "Mr Briggs". Still have my "There's No Other Way" 12". I remember when they played it on TOTP, and remarking at the dinner table that there was a very Stone Roses approach to the whole endeavour. Didn't stop me liking, and buying, the song though. I still like the first album too.
