I wouldn't know where to start. I probably would have to compile a Top 100 list.

Crikey, never thought I'd see Lee Hazlewood referenced on a Roses' forum...! My parents had one of his hippie-era albums... one with Nancy Sinatra.

By the way, it looks like the 80s was not a hot decade in music for you...

The Sonics were one of the first garage-rock bands, they mostly performed covers but had a raw energy that was way ahead of its time.
Check out a track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVWAE6n_G4Q

Otis blue was my entry point into soul music as an album format. Too often soul is spoken about as genre that was only concerned with singles but this record opened up that world for me, I've had years of discovering wonderful soul records.

Nancy & Lee record is fantastic, kinda cheesy in spots, though that's part of its charm. The Cowboy In Sweden LP is pretty much a masterpiece that sounds somewhere between country & psych. He made it in his time living in Sweden and for years it was only available there & in Germany, so for years it remained mostly unheard. Thankfully it was finally re-issued a while back (a nice vinyl re-issue came out this year too) & it has slowly but surely started to find an audience.
Here's a haunting song called The Night Before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPLS7NCpoxA

Looking at that list I guess it would appear that way, I LOVE a ton of 80s records, but I prefer those that I've listed (plus I think I got bored making this list  ) Also as a big fan of a lot of reggae, soul & funk the 80s were not the kindest to those genres. Though I do admit, 80s production used to put me off when I was younger. I think being born 83 and being a 90s kid when it came to music the bands I liked then (mostly britpop) had a tendency to dismiss the 80s & look back much further (mostly to the 60s) so it did take me a few years to realise I'd been a wally & tha there was plenty of wonderful music made in that decade.

Here's some 80s records I love though:

The Vaselines - Dum-Dum (1989)
Thee Headcoats - Headcoats Down! (1989)
Nirvana - Bleach (1989)
Willie Dee - Controversy (1989)
N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton (1988)
The Smiths - Strangeways, Here We Come (1987)
Guns n' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (1987)
Prince - Sign "☮" the Times (1987)
Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show (1987)
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (1986)
Thee Mighty Caesars - Acropolis Now (1986)
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions (1984)
The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow (1984) (comp, but the most essential Smiths release for me)
The Milkshakes - Nothing Can Stop These Men (1984)
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones (1983)
Billy Bragg - Life's a Riot With Spy vs. Spy (1983)
Television Personalities - ...And Don't the Kids Just Love It (1981) (such an underrated record)
The Jam - Sound Affects (1980)
Prince - Dirty Mind (1980)
Manu Dibango - Gone Clear (1980)
David Bowie - Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) (1980)
