When one looks at the run-through of 'When Angels Play' on the 'Made Of Stone' film, it's obvious that Reni is as happy as anyone else to be there (and especially happy to be playing with Mani) again. It's probably just that Reni and IB just don't get on and antagonise each other. As the Hampden gig showed, Reni seemed to be on good terms with JS and Mani. Maybe there'll always be this Crosby and McGuinn type situation between Reni and IB?

The smackhead stuff has never been proven. IB was asked about it when Reni left in 95, but Ian said nothing. It's a bit like the old Lee Sharpe rumours. It was all over Mcr that Sharpey was on drugs, but it turned out to be complete bollocks.

Had a light bulb moment this morning. Just realized Brown stole the "Don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened" quote from Chris Coleman.

Some really harsh comments on here about Reni. Smackhead, lived in a shithole....blah blah blah..What's this all based upon? Urban myths? There's no proof to suggest Reni is any of the above
Agreed. A friend of mine used to live around the corner from the house in Whalley Range where Reni lived from the Second Coming era until 7 or 8 years ago. It's a regular street in a working class area and he had the biggest house on the street which was really well presented. It definitely wasn't a shit hole. I never had the pleasure of meeting the great man but his kids played in the street all the time and they appeared to be well clothed, very happy and healthy.

If Reni is not up for new music get a new drummer in for it, Reni is an excellent drummer but there is others out there who are also excellent. I recently saw royal blood and Ben thatcher knows how to drum a funky beat 8-)

Used to see Reni in Megsons art store on Fountain Street in the early 90s. Spoke to him a couple of times and he was always a very polite and modest bloke. He certainly didn't look like he was on any sort of hard stuff either....

A collection of Mani's basses are going up for sale soon, so it looks like he's a had a clear out. Not much need for them I guess :(

Aren't instruments generally owned by the band - as a company? They're probably not Mani's personal possessions.

A sign of 'company assets' being liquidated? :(

It's hard to say, although I've had a look at pictures of the collection (that'll probably be up on Reverb soon) and these look to be from a personal collection as they are signed / have Primal Scream stickers on some of the amps so don't look like Stone Roses band assets, but who knows? Some nice Rickies, Gibsons, a gold Jack Cassidy from Heaton Park and some very nice amps.

Some cracking gear for some bassheads out there that's for sure.

Would anyone have expected some sort of IB solo news by now?
