live videos from '87, '88?

Post by april89 » Tue Jul 11, 2017 2:37 pm

Does anyone know if any live clips from '87/'88 exist? There are videos from the '85 warehouse shows, and obviously stuff from '89 and after, but I don't think I've ever seen a live clip from any era in between. I know there are tons of bootleg audio recordings from gigs, but I'd be curious to see if any videos are out there somewhere.

I'm not aware of any, no. Bear in mind that The Roses weren't exactly the hardest-gigging band in the world at the best of times (and 1987 and 1988 were indeed the best of times in their career). They're only known to have played 7 concerts in 1987 and 3 in the first ten months of 1988, making a grand total of 10 shows over almost a two-year period when they were young and hungry.

I've never been quite sure when the Granada 'Waterfall' video was actually filmed. Most sources suggest January '89, which is probably right, but I've also read that it was filmed in December '88 and then first broadcast in '89, which also seems plausible.

Interesting. I've always noticed during the Waterfall broadcast Ian's hair was how it was in 88 - short. During 89 it got longer and then of course you have 1990's hairdo which was even longer...
Maybe that's just me noticing things which don't mean much anyway.
