Combining the quality control blackspots of remix albums and Ian
Brown should spell disaster. Surprisingly, these remixes of tracks
from Brown's 2001 Music Of The Spheres album are better than
anyone could reasonanly expect. Indeed, UNKLE actually improve
F.E.A.R., drenching it in Will Malone's strings, while Freelance
Hellraiser gives Northen Lights a thorough rattling and japanese-only
studio cut Superstar occupies similarily celestial territory. Inevitably,
the second half is bogged down in space-filling instruments but the
album is considerably more coherent than Brown's cosmology..
